# An apple forest at the foot of the mountains

Alma Forest is a brand of hair, body, hand and home care. We make it in Almaty, and we want it to show where it comes from, even on a bathroom shelf.

## Why the name

Alma means “apple” in Kazakh; forest is the English word. Together they make an apple forest, “alma ormany” in Kazakh. Such forests still grow in the mountains above Almaty: forests of the Sievers apple, the wild ancestor of the domestic apple. The city is named after the apple tree, and we are named after these forests.

## Eleven places on the labels

Each bottle was given its own place: Lake Kaindy at dawn, Butakovka Waterfall in autumn, the Aksai River at dusk, the Kok-Zhailau Plateau, yurts on a zhailau, orchards in blossom. One style runs through the whole line: a calm poster with large shapes and a gouache grain.

## The window shape tells you the type

An arch for shampoo, a drop for cream shower gel, a bar for cream hand soap, a circle for dishwashing liquid. Each type also has its own lettering color. The season and time of day in the picture tell you about the fragrance: Aport is autumn, kaymak and honey a golden evening, chamomile a summer morning.

## A label you want to touch

The label is matte, while the window with the picture and the logo are finished in raised gloss varnish. The bottle is clear blue plastic, so you can see the product through it.

## Kazakh on the front

The product type and fragrance on the front are written in Kazakh, in the new Latin alphabet: SUSABYN, KREM-GEL, KREM-SABYN, YDYS JUĞYŞ QŪRAL. The required text on the back is in Kazakh and Russian.

## Who makes it

Alma Forest is made by COSMEX in Almaty. Since 2025 COSMEX has been making hair care, body care and household products. It also manufactures for partners under their own brands.
